Expect success – get success (here’s how).

A quick exercise for you to kick start the New Year

A quick exercise for you to kick start the New Year:

Think about what a successful day looks like for you today (or tomorrow if you’re reading this late at night).

What’s in the calendar – a meeting, a conversation, some written work?

Take each one at a time (or just one of them) and give yourself this prompt:

‘This will be a successful (meeting/conversation/whatever) because……’

This will tell you exactly what you need to do, think or be to get the outcome you want.

So, you can do, think or be it!

Example:

This will be a successful meeting because at the end we will be crystal clear on our sales target for Q1.’

This will give you a prompt to make sure you start the meeting with that end in mind and don’t let it go off track.

Or

This written report will get me the extra budget I need to hire an admin assistant’.

This will give you a prompt to make sure you have a strong argument/cost benefit analysis to get said assistant in place.

There’s a difference in how you show up when you expect your success to be inevitable.

Compare those statements above to these:

‘We’ll never get that sales target agreed’.

or ‘I don’t know why I’m wasting my time even asking for an assistant’.

See the difference in energy?  You feel it!

In the first examples I gave you, you expand your thinking and the art of the possible expands with you.

In the second examples I gave you, you come from a place of lack or pessimism or fear.

Guess which way of thinking leads to the best outcomes?

To get more of what you want in life, assume you will get what you want in life.

That’s the best starting point I know.

And if you don’t get everything you want, it’s what you learn and who you become in the process that’s the real gold.

This is so much more than ‘positive mindset’.

It’s about making your thoughts work for you every single day.

PS. If you think ‘well that sounds a bit too easy’ then I encourage you to open your mind and your heart and see where that leads you.  You will be pleasantly surprised.
