What happens when you stop saving everyone

| 6 March 2026

I bet that right now, part of your value comes from being the one who keeps all those balls in the air so nothing gets dropped, lost or broken.

You see the flaw in the report before it goes to your boss.

You cover up for the incompetent peer.

You hear the excuses and ‘all the reasons why we can’t……’.

And so you step in. Again. As everyone knows you would.

Now. Imagine not doing that.

Imagine walking into the meeting knowing you are no longer the safety net and the safe pair of hands.

You’ve set the standard and your expectations very clearly and people know what is expected of them.

In those moments?

Someone thinks more deeply.

Someone else knows he needs to prepare better next time.

Someone else sees you cutting through the noise and thinks, ‘I could do that in my own team meeting.’

Someone else realises you are not going to rescue them.

Someone else thinks, ‘Thank God we’re getting somewhere.’

And everyone knows those old didn’t have time’ excuses won’t wash anymore.

At first, they called you a ball breaker behind your back.

Now?

They see how much happier, effective and confident they are under your leadership.

You build people who can stand on their own feet.

And that has a big ripple effect.

Your reputation grows.

You are no longer the dependable fixer.

You are the leader who raises the bar and leaves it there.

Your evenings start to look different. Your focus time expands. You spend more time shaping direction and less time plugging the gaps.

This is you, stepping into your power.

Owning your power is not about dominance. It is about refusing to make yourself essential to everything and available to everyone.

Big difference.

The question is: Are you ready?
