Lynn Scott’s Coach and Mentor Training Workshops

Leadership Coaching

Coaching is our day job so our coaching and mentoring workshops reflect the real world and give participants relevant, practical and up-to-date skills that they can use straight away. We always do a live coaching or mentoring demonstration and every programme includes practice and feedback sessions. This is NOT role play – we work with the real coaching and mentoring challenges and opportunities brought by workshop participants.

At Lynn Scott Coaching we offer the following bespoke in-house workshops:-

So, what is the difference between a coach and a mentor?

The CIPD defines coaching as:

Something which ‘targets high performance and improvement at work and usually focuses on specific skills and goals, although it may also have an impact on an individual’s personal attributes.’

And Mentoring as:

A relationship in which a more experienced colleague uses his or her greater knowledge and understanding of the work or workplace to support the development of a more junior or inexperienced member of staff.

Coaching works best for individuals who aspire to be the best they can be – it is not only about ‘problem solving’ but about looking at opportunity and future potential. Click here for some common coaching themes.

The focus of mentoring is usually on career development.

The words mentor and coach are often used interchangeably and it is clear that many of the same skills are needed by both– the ability to listen, ask good questions, give feedback, challenge and support, for example, are key to both roles even if the purpose of the role is different.

"Lynn is an excellent coach trainer. Her training was tremendously effective because it combines four important elements: learning about methods; observing Lynn in a live coaching situation; practising coaching with a fellow trainee and getting really detailed feedback. I have greatly enhanced my coaching skills as a result of attending this workshop."
