This week I was on the periphery of a conversation (okay, I was eavesdropping….!) about competency frameworks. The benefits, the disadvantages, what should and should not be included and why…….and so on.
The conversation went on.
All the buzz words and phrases were coming out in their hundreds, words and phrases were being dissected for real meaning…. And so on.
And I wondered, in my heart of hearts, how much the competency frameworks in these organisations were actually making a palpable, visceral difference to leadership, leaders and organisational performance.
Then I came across this wonderful article The Best Leader I Ever Met by Doug Wilson which I think is a must read for all of us.
Not a competency framework in sight!
